Breakout people into multiple focused groups

Breakout rooms allow you to split meeting participants into smaller groups during workshops or team activities for focused discussions. When the breakout ends, everyone automatically returns to the main room.

How to start breakout rooms

1. Click on the Breakout icon in the bottom toolbar during a meeting
2. Configure your breakout settings in the setup modal
3. Click Start Breakout to begin

Configure your breakout settings

Group Settings

• Participants per Group: Use the + and - buttons to set how many people should be in each group
• Manually Assign Participants: Toggle this on if you want to choose who goes in which room

Room Details

• Number of Breakout Rooms: Automatically calculated based on your participants per group setting
• Manually Choose Rooms: Toggle this on to select specific rooms from your floor plan

Breakout Duration

• Set how long the breakout session should last (default is 15 minutes)
• When time expires, all participants automatically return to the main room

Manually assign participants to rooms

If you want to control who goes where:

1. Toggle on Manually Assign Participantsor click on Group Settings to open the assignment modal
2. You'll see all participants distributed across rooms
3. Drag and drop participants between rooms to rearrange them
4. Click Start Breakout when ready

Select specific rooms

When manually choosing rooms:

1. Toggle on Manually Choose Roomsor click on Room Details to open the assignment modal
2. Click on rooms in the floor plan to select them
3. You must select enough rooms for your groups (e.g., total 4 participants, 2 people per group, select at least 2 rooms)
4. Selected rooms will be highlighted. (Note: You can only select available rooms. Rooms which are locked or busy can't be selected)
5. Click Start Breakout once you've selected the required number of rooms

Broadcast to breakout rooms

While breakouts are running, you can communicate with selected groups without disturbing others:

Broadcast to a specific room

1. Click the Breakout button again while breakouts are active
2. Click the Broadcast icon next to any room
3. Participants in that room will see and hear you

Broadcast to all rooms

1. Click the Breakout button while breakouts are active
2. Click Broadcast to All Rooms
3. All breakout groups will see and hear you simultaneously

End breakout rooms

Breakout rooms end in two ways:

• Automatically: When the set duration expires, everyone returns to the main room
• Manually: Click Stop Breakout to end the session early and bring everyone back
