Windows - audio / video troubleshooting
Try out all the possible troubleshooting scenarios to fix the device issue-
- Select correct devices in Cosmos
- Other programs are using the device
- Browser Cosmos permissions are not given
- System has blocked the devices for use
- The devices are not working only
- Browser site is muted
Make sure you have selected the correct devices in your Cosmos Space.
- Click on the arrow beside your mic and camera icons in Cosmos.
- Ensure the correct devices are selected. If the right devices are selected but not working, click on them again to refresh the stream. If they still don't work, continue with the troubleshooting steps.
Mic and camera are being used by another video app
- If this is the case, please quit the other video-calling app. To do so, click on the programs arrow in your taskbar < right-click to exit the program.
- Then refresh the Cosmos page by pressing
ctrl + R
Grant Cosmos permission to use the mic and camera on the browser
- When opening Cosmos, a popup will request permissions for the mic and camera. Click
Allow
for both.
In case you accidentally clicked on Block/closed the popup:
- Click the camera icon in the top-right corner of your browser's address bar and grant access to the mic and camera.
Make sure your mic and camera have system permissions to be used in apps and browsers
- Go to your
Windows search
and typeMicrophone privacy settings
- In the Microphone settings, Make sure you have all the mentioned toggles
turned ON
- Follow the same for Camera by searching

and turning thetoggles ON
Test if your device is physically working
- Search
settings
in the Windows search bar and go tosound
- Make sure you have the correct devices selected.
- Click on the arrow beside the device name to open further device settings. Click on
Start Test
and say something to confirm if the device is working. The audio bar should move.
The browser tab might be muted
Right-click on the browser tab and select Unmute site
if the tab is muted.
