Setup channels and chat
Chatting in Cosmos:
Cosmos replaces Slack with channels, conversation chats and DMs. You can send messages, emojis, files and embed documents. Chat is available on desktop and mobile. New updates are regularly shipped to improve the chat experience.
If you want to share your feedback on chat - head to https://cosmos.canny.io/feature-requests
Add Chat channels:
- Enter your space and click on
+
icon beside the channels
- Give a name to your chat channel
- You can create public or private channels in Cosmos. In public channels, everyone who joins Cosmos will automatically have access to this channel, including the guests.
- With private channels, you can either add current members of the space to the channel, add specific people or toggle to add anyone who joins your space as a member.
Note: Private channels aren’t accessible to guests of the space; this is to safeguard your internal information from external guests.
Conversation Chat:
Group chats between people present in a conversation, both members and guests. You can find the chat button in your call toolbar, and if you join a new conversation you’ll get automatically added to that chat group.
Once the discussion is finished and you have moved away, you can still access the history by going to the sidebar and clicking on Recent Conversations
> Recent
. Here you will see the list of all the past covnersations.
Direct Messages:
Everyone in the space can send direct messages to both members and guests.
Known improvement: Currently, if a guest goes offline, their direct messages to other members are hidden right now. This is a UI issue. We’ll resolve it soon.
