How to change your status in Cosmos?
Understanding True Statuses
Unlike traditional platforms that use simple coloured dots, Cosmos offers True Statuses that accurately reflect your actual availability. When someone shows as Available or Listening in Cosmos, they're genuinely connected to the space and ready to interact—helping teams find colleagues who can provide immediate feedback.
Status types
🟢 Available
Signals you're ready for quick chats and connections. When you're Available:
- Your camera and microphone are on when someone approaches
- You'll immediately join conversations when your avatar overlaps with others
- Perfect for collaboration hours or when you want to invite spontaneous conversations
🟡 Listening
Stay present without being on camera. In Listening mode:
- Your mic and camera ared turned off
- You remain connected to the space and can hear conversations nearby
🔵 Focusing
Let others know you're in deep work mode. When Focusing:
- You remain visible in the space but appear with a focus indicator
- Others can see you're online but shouldn't interrupt unless urgent
- Great for protecting concentrated work time whilst staying aware of what's happening
- You won't automatically join conversations when approached
🔴 Away
Signals when you're not on your system. Away status:
- Automatically activates after 10 minutes of inactivity on desktop apps
- Can be manually set when you step out
- Shows others you're not available for immediate communication
How to change your status
- Go to the bottom left corner of your Cosmos interface

Custom Status
You can also add context to your availability with a Custom Status. Going for a walk? Enjoying a coffee? Share what you're up to and even set a timer. Your Custom status will display in the User list.
